When is the Jokkmokk market held?
According to old tradition, the market always starts on the first Thursday in February and lasts for three intense days. In 2026, the market will start on February 5th. However, there are various activities and events taking place throughout the market week.
How many days does the Jokkmokk market last?
The large market with all the sales, all the different activities and events takes place over three days; Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The market area is open all three days between 10:00 and 18:00. There are also a large number of accompanying events throughout the market week, including in the evenings.
Is it market entry?
No, there is no charge to enter the market area. However, there is admission to various side events during the market week, such as lectures, concerts, etc. Prices and ticket information for the side events can be found in the market program.
When is this year's market program ready?
We will start posting program items online as soon as they are ready. The printed program is usually ready for mailing in December.
Where can I get the printed marketing program?
It can be ordered from Jokkmokk's Infocenter by phone. 0971-222 50 or email to infocenter@jokkmokk.seIt is also available for pick-up at all tourist offices in Norrbotten.
How cold is it usually at Jokkmokk market?
Jokkmokk market falls in the middle of winter, so it can be quite cold. In 2012, the thermometer showed -40°C, and a few years later it was above zero – so temperatures vary. Check the weather forecast before the market opens, and choose your clothes according to the weather.
How should you dress for the cold?
In addition to sturdy outerwear, it is important to have warm shoes, a hat and good gloves/mittens. Feel free to dress in several layers. If you still get cold, there are many warm places with sales, exhibitions, food and other things to visit.
How to get to Jokkmokk?
You can fly to Luleå or Gällivare for further transport by bus or rental car. By train you go to Murjek station (located between Boden and Gällivare) from there a national bus goes to Jokkmokk in connection with the trains. Inlandsbanan has its own chartered trips.
Where can I buy tickets for various performances?
There is currently no central ticket booking office. Please see the program for the ticket sales point for each performance.
How many visitors come to Jokkmokk market?
In a normal year, 40.000-45.000 visitors come during the three market days. The market in 2024 had 48.600 visitors. The visitor statistics are based on the Swedish Transport Administration's vehicle measurements. In extreme cold, there are significantly fewer. The community of Jokkmokk has a population of about 3.000.
Where can I park my car? How much does it cost? Is there disabled parking?
There is plenty of parking at the Industrial Area at the entrance, road 97. Follow the signs from all entrances. Parking attendants are on site. The fee goes entirely to a non-profit organization. Please respect the parking and stopping restrictions in Jokkmokk. They are there to avoid traffic problems.
Bus parking for chartered buses is available at the Östra school's football field, but as it is partly occupied by car parks for school staff, other spaces for buses may be available. Ask the Infocenter.
There are some centrally located disabled parking spaces. Contact the Infocenter at the beginning of the market week for more information on where they are located.
Can I rent an engine heater?
No, there is no engine heater rental in connection with the parking lots.
