Family Show – The Child and the Great Mystery.

A Playful and Philosophical Music Theater for Ages 5–10

We follow a child who, in the evening, lies down to read a book, but their thoughts drift off, pondering the universe instead. Is there an edge? Is there a place out there where the universe ends—and what lies beyond it? In the next room, their father is reading a book by the philosopher Kant. But he is repeatedly interrupted by the child, who has a thousand questions, revealing that none of us can fully understand everything—not the child, not the adult, and not even the philosopher Kant. The book’s title references both the philosopher Kant and the edge where the child imagines the universe might end.

Author and Nobel laureate Jon Fosse is renowned for his poetic dramas, performed on theater stages worldwide. His plays often explore states of being, relationships, and existential questions.

This is a trilingual performance in Swedish, Meänkieli, and Sámi. No prior knowledge of our minority languages is needed to enjoy this “striped” language blend!

About the Cast: Carina Henriksson plays the child in the performance. Known as the Glesbygdsdiva, she also directed and adapted the script. She is a singer and director from Lainio in Vittangi Municipality. Anders Rimpi plays the father. He is an opera singer, language teacher, and musician from Gothenburg, with roots in Olluluokta in Jokkmokk Municipality, and learned Lule Sámi as an adult. Gunnar Edander composed the music, and Agneta Ehlérs Jarleman wrote the script.
