The place of inaccessibility, 67° 18′ 15“ N, 17° 9′ 8.4” E. At the furthest point from all roads is a place in the Swedish mountains called the place of inaccessibility. There are no trails there, no signs pointing to the place in Laponia, it is far from roads and urban life. It’s one of the few places in the world that man has not exploited. What happens when a dancer finds the way to this strange place?

“Vi är fortfarande här/Mii leat ain dás” directed by Gunilla Bresky
In the far north, in the small village of Máze, stands a deserted house with a strange history. Seven young Sámi artists came here in the late 1970s. They had a dream to create together. They packed their red bus with pictures and traveled around to bring art to their people. When the Alta River development threatened to drown the village, they became part of the resistance. The artists of the Máze group had grown up in a society that tried to take away their family, language and culture. Now it’s time to rewrite history.
Featuring: Aage Gaup, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Berit Marit Hætta, Hans Ragnar Mathisen, Synnøve Persen.
Gunilla Bresky is a documentary filmmaker living in Luleå, who for many years has portrayed people’s lives in the North Calotte. She has made several films about Sami culture. She will participate both before and after the movie.
