Traveling with dad – from Asti (Italy) to Jokkmokk

This is Niko, age 7, and his father Emanuele. At the end of this week they will start their journey towards Jokkmokk and the Jokkmokk market.

They travel in a camper van and start from Asti in Italy. They will then travel through Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Denmark before finally reaching Sweden. Of course, there will also be a detour to Finland to meet Santa, while they are so “close”.

We look forward to joining them on their journey!

The market hosts will be back

Good news! Last year we tried a new thing in collaboration with the two pensioners associations that are here in Jokkmokk, PRO and SPF. Our lovely, happy pensioners acted as market hosts.

They walked around the area equipped with programs and maps, and answered lots of questions about both big and small. This was incredibly appreciated by both visitors and fans, and our fantastic hosts thought it was really fun.

Since it was so appreciated by everyone, we are of course running with market hosts again this year! They will circulate the market area, wearing the yellow vests you see in the picture. They are more than happy to answer all your questions and help you find your way through the chaos.

The printed program (in Swedish) has arrived!

The Swedish version of the printed program for Jokkmokk’s 420th market has arrived and can be picked up at the Jokkmokk Infocenter from today.

This year’s program has 60 pages, and the cover is adorned with the craftsmanship of the 2024 Asa Kitok Fellows, Doris and Sven-Åke Risfjell. The English edition of the printed program will arrive in January 2025.

The program is initially available in the municipal hall in Jokkmokk, and soon it will be sent out to shops, hotels and meeting places both in Jokkmokk municipality and in other parts of Norrbotten County. It will also be sent to tour operators and individuals who have ordered the program via Jokkmokk’s info center.

The program is also available in digital form on this website, in both Swedish and English. After the New Year, it will also be available in Lule Sámi here on jokkmokksmarknad.se.

Would you like to order a program?

Send your postal address in an email to infocenter@jokkmokk.se and we will send the program to you once the English edition arrives.

The market candy – one of many highlights

Candy and sweets come in all shapes and sizes, from classics such as the market nougat and marmalade, to new inventions to explore.

Many market-goers claim that candy shopping is a must when you’re at the Jokkmokk market, and the selection of candy is usually quite large and varied.

What do you choose, classic market sweets or something new?

We are looking for interesting travelers

Cyklist på en snöig vinterväg.

Hello everyone! We at the market office are looking for those of you who intend to get to the Jokkmokk market in a slightly different and creative way this year.

Maybe you are a big group traveling far with caravans? Or have you decided to cycle through snow and cold? Are you taking the Inlandsbanan and enjoying the train ride through the winter landscape? Or maybe you’re coming in an unusual vehicle – a vintage car, dog sled or even on skis?

Please tell us about your plans! We’d love to hear your story and maybe share it with others. Send an email to jokkmokksmarknad@jokkmokk.se and put “traveler” in the subject line – we look forward to hearing from you!

Feel free to spread the word to friends and acquaintances who might be traveling in a unique way.
